I will be getting a 17 inch laptop for light video editing

( merging 2 videos to pay side by side at the same time)

I just dont know know how much laptop i need. I dont plan on doing any gaming again just the video editing i was planning above. These are the specs on the 3 laptop choices I have.

Choice 1

Intel Core i7-6500 Processor
16GB DDR4 Memory
1TB hard drive / DVD Burner
17.3” Full HD Multi touch-enabled Display
NVIDIA Graphics with 2GB ($749)

Choice 2

AMD quad-core A10-9700P processor
8GB DDR3L SDRAM
1TB SATA hard drive)
AMD Radeon R6 graphics with 4352MB total graphics memory ($500)

Choice 3

AMD Quad-Core A12-9720P APU (2.7GHz, up to 3.6GHz burst frequency, 2 MB cache)+AMD Radeon™ 530 Graphics (4GB dedicated memory)
16 GB DDR4-1866 SDRAM (2 x 8 GB)
1 TB 5400 rpm SATA
Intel® 802.11b/g/n/ac (1x1) Wi-Fi® and Bluetooth® 4.2 Combo ($850)

again i need to travel with this computer sometimes and i wont need it for games. just the video editing scenario i described above. Not looking for overkill just need it to do the task i have described.... so i guess what i am asking is if the $500 dollar one is enough?

plan on using movavi video editor or wondershare filmora (just need basic program that can join 2 videos together, no more no less.)

Thanks for the help

Something like this with a more powerful CPU is ideally what you'd want:

Neither will be a strong video editor - both have fairly weak CPUs for the task (that i7 is a 2-core low-power version). But I'd pick system #1 hands down.

What you'd really want would be an i5-6300HQ/7300HQ or i7-6700HQ/7700HQ, but they may be slightly out of the range you're willing to spend on one.

What do you feel about choice #3 . That's a custom one from HP.com?

I would go with option 1 as it will be enough to do the things you are doing and as they are better for battery life I would choose it. Is the cpu a dual core ulv cpu or a quad core m cpu as you have not stated.

6500 is a dual-core ULV.

OP, didn't recognize the A10 was one of the newer AMD chips; it's nearly as strong as the 4-core i5-6300HQ.

The best for video editing would be an Intel i7 4-core HQ, though. A 2-core will do it, but you'll be waiting around longer.

Look at benchmarks for CPUs relevant to what you'll be doing with them - Blender, Adobe tests, etc.

That has the same cpu as option 1. For your usage of simple video editing is fine as long as the vids are not too long as you will be waiting for a while.
