Solved! Laptop GPU issue

Hi, I've recently been having problems with my laptop bought around 5 years ago.

After some tests on various parts of the laptop I am fairly certain that the problem is the GPU (screen stays black after switching on laptop, although power is on and I hear the fans turning etc. it started off where it was intermittent and eventually came on, but has now got to the point where it does come on at all).

Anyway I bought a replacement second hand GPU off eBay (exact same model), however the post did state that the GPU had not been tested and may be faulty.

However the issue I am now having is when I replace my GPU with the one bought off eBay, the laptop doesn't power on at all, when plugged in to the AC adapter the charging light comes on but as soon as I press the power button the charge light goes off as well as the green light on the AC adapter, possibly short circuiting? Does anyone know what might be causing this? It does not happen with the original GPU. has anyone experienced anything like this before and has a fix or is it just a case of returning the GPU as it's more than likely faulty?

The GPU does sound faulty and probably not a good idea to keep trying it, as I think it could damage the motherboard's circuitry.

If you want to make sure, try using the PC's Intel integrated graphics.
