Laptop Harddrive Replaced, Now It Won't Work

I recently had the harddrive on my ASUS laptop short out and had it replaced via Best Buy Accidental Damage and Handling warranty. I got it back yesterday and went to reinstall all of the things I use on it.

I managed to get google chrome added and then I went to start installing games. Get battle/net loaded up and then try to put on hearthstone, after about a minute a pop up window comes up in the upper left hand corner that says program is non responsive and has two options, wait or close program. Annoying, but not the end of the world. Click the end program button and the computer hard freezes and has to be restarted.

Curious, try it again and the same pop up happens and the same freeze. So I moved on to steam, managed to get one thing to install then again non responsive freeze. Curious thing is I never used to get a popup telling me I had a non responsive program and giving me choices.

I'm using Windows 10 if that makes any tangible difference, but I talked to best buy this morning and they won't me to bring it back to the store that is an hour away from my house. Is there anything I can try to resolve this bazaar hang up problem or should I just admit defeat and take the damn thing back to them.

right click start button
choose command prompt (admin)
type SFC /scannow and press enter

this scans system files and may fix this behaviour

Could be there was something more to that hard drive shorting out before, perhaps they should look at hardware and determine if its something else causing the problems. It might just be software but it sounds like PC is waiting for something to reply and it never does.

I know it's an hour away, but if the SFC/scannow does not fix it, get back to Best Buy as soon as possible.

You've paid for that service, they did not fix it properly, never know if something else is wrong.

The scan hung up at 53 percent, tried windows update and it hung up at 76 percent and just sits there. Very odd.
