laptop i7 7700HQ with GTX 1080 or i7 8750H with GTX1070 for gaming? The only game I play is LOTRO.

Former, 8750H is slightly better in single core but has 50% more cores. Games are still heavily dependent on single core performance, so Former as 1080 is much faster than 1070. Make sure the cooling is good.
