laptop inverter issue

ok so today i brought an old toshiba s3000-x4 with a faulty backlight. I think its the inverter because if i plug the inverter in while the laptop is powered on there is a loud squeeling sound but its coming from the laptop and not the inverter. What do you think needs replacing?

Hi, if it's a faulty inverter, you should have a picture on an external monitor, if you don't see a picture, something else is the problem.

yea i can see the logon screen if i shine a torch on the screen next problem is that i cant find an inverter for this model on ebay :/

edit: found one and orderd it
