laptop locked up after accidentally turnef off while downloading

laptop turns on with screen lighting up but turns off by itself.when the screen stays lit, it is just blank
no nothing displayed. It happened after I accidentally turn off the power button while it was still
downloading a program.

Downloading a program or a Windows update or a BIOS flash or something similar? How far does it turn on? Can you see the BIOS screen and go into the BIOS options?
