Laptop power issues along with screen freezing.

I was wondering if someone could help me out, I have been having this issue whenever I play games where sometimes the screen brightness will flicker. Also during this time, whenever I am playing League of Legends the screen will alt tab out of the game and I have to tab back to get back on the game. I notice at the top of the screen that the brightness setting appears and lowers on its own. The battery settings are set that nothing should change if its plugged in or just using the battery. Also while plugged in it would seem like the power is not connected when clearly it is. Whenever I play a game like borderlands I should not have to deal with issues of lagging with how the video settings are set. there will be times when I can play it smoothly at 60 fps or higher and times when going through the same areas that they are below 30 when it shouldn't be. Also sometimes the screen will freeze at these low performance times, but the laptop itself still runs and if I close and open the laptop, the screen will reload.

Also I am using Windows 10, and a Gigabyte P55k-TD laptop. Thanks for your help in advance.

Please do try these troubleshooting steps that may help in solving the issue.
- First is to do a clean install of the Nvidia graphics driver.
- Go to Device Manager and uninstall the Nvidia driver.
- Next is to check Programs and Features then uninstall anything related to Nvidia.
- Once done, download and install the latest driver.

- Reboot your laptop once the latest driver has been installed.

- After this change the Power Management settings as well to Adaptive.
