Laptop price/characteristics opinion

Hello to everybody, I'd like to ask you a question.
Yesterday my family bought to me a toshiba R830-110 (with ram extension from 4gb to 8gb), spending in total 1100 euro (about 1200 bucks).
Just I don't get it how is possible that this toshiba, reading its characteristics, can have a price so high, how it is possible? In your opinion, should I change laptop (for the same price I can have easily an i5), or there is a good reason to hold this pc?
I'm not so good with hardware, so I'm asking to you

The only difference between this and mine is that my laptop has the ram extension (8GB).

Don't buy extra memory from the OEM either. Memory is much cheaper if you buy and install it yourself.

That laptop is worth about $400 Dollars ( 280 -ish Euro)

For 1100 Euro I can get an I7 3630qm, Blu Ray, 1920x1080 MATTE and a GTX 680m
