I'm completely new to buying a laptop so I thought I'd ask here,

1. What is your budget?

500-900

2. What is the size of the notebook that you are considering?

14in-17in (I'd prefer smaller, I need to carry it around)

3. What screen resolution do you want?

doesn't matter

4. Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop?

portable

5. How much battery life do you need?

3-4 hour minnimum

6. Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High)?

Yes, it must absolutely be able to play the sims on high

7. What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo/Video editing, Etc.)

a little video/ photo editing (not very necessary)

8. How much storage (Hard Drive capacity) do you need?

600GB

I'm looking at getting the HP Pavillion dv7t Quand Eddition

10. How long do you want to keep your laptop?

5 years? Maybe that's a little unreasonable.

11. What kind of Optical drive do you need? DVD ROM/Writer,Bluray ROM/Writer,Etc ?

12. Please tell us about the brands that you prefer to buy from them and the brands that you don't like and explain the reasons.

It doesn't really matter to me, but I did have a bad experience with a toshiba

I use my laptop all the time for more than sever hours a day. I also watch a lot of tv and movies on my current laptop so I need a laptop that will be more durable.

I hope this can help people find their ideal notebook.
