Laptop Screen doesn't show anything

When I hook up my laptop to my TV it goes black and stay's that way when I disconnect it from the TV. How do I unmerge screens from a dumb tv back to my laptop screen.

often there is a special function on one of the fkeys that cycles between internal, external, and both display modes. Its Fn+F2 on my laptop. Perhaps you have one also.
