laptop screen is black

When I turn on my laptop,the screen stays black and the only lights on are the power and charge light.How can I fix this?

Yes the fan is on.Just turn the computer on and it works!After 2 days!Only issue is we don't know what happened and what to do if it happens again.Any ideas?

And my computer screen went black again.Same thing.

Might sound strange but try to take out the memory and put it back. If that doesn't change anything, then it might be a bad monitor cable.
Try to close and open the screen a few times, maybe then after a few times the screen might come back.

I took out the memory and put it back.I also opened and closed the screen.Still nothing but thx for trying.

You know someone with a monitor to test? And you know which button(s) to use to switch from laptop screen to external screen?
Press and hold FN (left of space), then press F4.
