Solved! Laptop thinks printer is off

Hi, My HP laptop (Windows 7) is cueing up docs to the printer but doesn't print. When I trouble shoot it tells me to turn the printer on. Printing works fine from my desktop (XP). I tried turning both off/on, but I don't know what else to try

It's an issue with W7 and HP's driver compatibility. Have you checked HP's support site for the latest drivers for your model of printer? If there isn't one, download the Vista driver and do a manual install of it. That should get the printer going for you.
