laptop turns off when unplugged

my laptop is 1 year old.doesn't matter how long I charge it.it shows 0% and turns off immediately when unplugged,what should I do and how much will it cost? it would be great if you could just help,please!

Make and model laptop?

Two immediate thoughts:

1) Battery is not getting charged due to some charging failure.

2) Battery itself is no longer useable or rechargeable. Failed.

Can you try the battery in another laptop or another known working battery in your laptop?
