Laptop will not turn on unless battery is removed

ASUS Aspire V3 Series laptop will not turn on unless battery is removed. When battery is installed after laptop is turned on, it turns off by itself. Just installed a new battery. Pls help!

If it is an Aspire, it's an Acer, not ASUS.

Did it do this with the old battery, too?

Is the new battery an OEM Acer battery, or an inexpensive knock-off?

1shado1, you're right it's an Acer. Yes, it did the same with the old battery. I bought the battery from Amazon, it's not OEM.

Try checking the metal contacts in the battery compartment. Do they all look normal/straight? Do the same for both batteries as well.
How old is the original battery? Did the malfunction prompt you to buy the new one, or did the problem just start after inserting the new battery?
