Laptop won’t start on battery

Hi, my laptop won’t start with only the battery, I can start with the adapter and battery, but when I unplug the adapter the laptop goes down. Battery is 99%full.
Yes it’s a Dell Studio 1558.

Battery is probably shot. How old is the battery?

Your laptop's battery is dead, it shows false readings so change your laptop battery. If issue persist then try different charger, because sometimes when charger life is almost expired then it shows charging but actually its not.

Then check battery is not other than Dell and is for same laptop series that you are using.

If it is a new battery, did you charge it first?

The battery is from Dell, the same one where the Dell came with.
The new battery is fully loaded with the laptop, even the adapter is original.

Use your battery in another laptop (same model). If it is working fine then there will be hardware fault in your laptop
