Laptop wont connect to the internet via wifi or ethernet

My laptop is a lenovo y50 running windows 8.1 SL.I recently had to replace the display frame on my system...after i got it back i havent been able to connect to my home wifi or other wifi networks... i tried connecting the ethernet cable but with no luck..i need to activate my windows so i need an internet connection...ive checked every basic stuff.my mobile and my desktop is connected to this same network without any problem.even though connection is established when i try to access the internet it says that i dont have internet connection..pls help

did you check your firewall?
is your network adapter enabled in device manager?
then again, why don't you just take it back to the guy who repaired it?

i cant activate my firewall...it says windows firewall cant change some of your settings"error code 0x8007042c"my network adapter is enabled.. i can go to the store next week only :/

i haven't installed an antivirus yet...my mcafee expired a week ago...and i uninstalled it..can that be the reason here?

why don't you just get microsoft security essentials?

hey i reinstalled mcafee and the firewall is back on..but still cannot connet to the internet

in what what did you replace display frame? did you take the laptop apart?

i should have been more clear
i meant to say check to see if your network adapter and browser are allowed in your firewall and antivirus
