Laptop wont shutdown

When ever I try to shutdown my laptop, it get stuck at the blue screen with the shut down screen but nothing happens, I have to hold the power key down till it turns off. I'm not sure what could be causing this issue.

it shut down cleanly, i just did a system restore so hopefully that fixes the issue.

Well the system restore did not fix the problem.
