Laptop wont turn on dead ram

Hello, I have been using dell inspiron 1564 for over an year, it was working fine then all of a sudden one day i hit the power button but nothing happens, no display.i tried all the tricks of pulling out battery, long pressing the power button but no luck. AC adapter is fine as i check the voltage on voltmeter and when i plug in the adapter the "battery indicator" on laptop turns on and it reamins on. A single 2gb memory is installed i tried swapping the sockets but no luck either.i am assuming it might be the memory issue but any help would be greatly appreciated.

its hard to diagnose as laptops are compact, i would suspect a bad motherboard...if you still have a warranty on that laptop contact dell and they will replace the part for you
