Laptop won't use my headset mic

I currently use a Steelseries Siberia 200 as my headset and over the past few months of using this headset everything was completely fine. No issues with the headset or with the PC. I tend to use my headset mic as when playing games or doing any personal business it outputs a more clear sound than compared to my internal laptop mic. But then out of no where my laptop just stopped using my external microphone. I've tried updating my drivers, uninstalling then reinstalling my drivers, troubleshooting, scanning and everything that i could possibly think of but it still doesn't work. I am also positive that the headset isn't the problem as I have tried it on another PC and I have also tried my other headsets on the same laptop but the laptop wouldn't detect the microphone. Is there anything that I missed or anything else I can do to fix this?
BTW: my laptop is the Asus G550jk and my audio driver is Realtek High Definition Audio

Have you gone into "Control Panel" and check the settings for the microphone in there? Also have you tried right clicking on the "Speaker" icon on the taskbar, then clicking "Open Volume Mixer" and made sure the microphone isn't muted there?
