You guys are approching this all wrong...Of course the skin of an ICBM wouldn't withstand the heat generated from this 'captured' laser energy...that's why you cover the missile with heatpipes that channel the thermal energy to a steam turbine that converts the enemy's defenses into a power source, saving the taxpayer as much as 20% in rocket fuel costs... the U.S. will soon lead the way in green ICBMs.

Without any light concentration you will be limited by the suns output power per sq meter which is roughly 1.366 kW/m^2 (Solar constant).

The class material you are looking for is called selective absorber.This materials have a high solar absorbing coefficient alpha of up to 0.96 and radiate very low heat. You can find an overview of different types in "Review of Mid- to High-Temperature Solar Selective Absorber Materials" by C.E. Kennedy, National Renewable Energy Laboratory, July 2002.
 
This system won't be interesting against high energy beams but it remains interesting in case of an ICBM. You can use that technology to defeat the laser tracking device. With no lock on the target, the offensive device becomes useless.

Everyones got all these wonderful ideas and plans, but theres no mention of how much power this anti-laser sucks up. run Anti-Matter at 100Kw and produce 500w of pure, RAW, power every hour, On the hour! from the sun.
 
Sorry to burst you guys' delusions of ICBM induced world domination but an anti laser coating is really good at absorbing laser light energy not reflecting it. That would make anything covered in an "anti-laser" shield even more vulnerable to laser weapons because they would absorb 99.999% of the energy...which is exactly what you want the target of your laser to do.
 
Most military vehicles use lasers to judge trajectory of enemy military vehicles which feeds their autotargeting computers.

essentially, this stuff might make stealth tanks possible. you'd have to manually target them. if they are auto targeting you and you are manually targeting them we all know who wins that fight.

Bono's hearts really melt of joy!
