News Latest Nintendo Switch 2 leak reveals possible launch price — start saving now

Price sells consoles. The Switch was a success because there was no handheld competition and it was $300 which was pretty decent for what it was at the time. Times have changed though. There's handhelds already more powerful and capable than the Switch 2. The games will look better than the Switch, but not in dramatic fashion, so your typical Switch owner who doesn't follow gaming closely probably won't see much need, especially if games are cross-gen. So price will matter a lot. At $400, I think enthusiasts and die hard Nintendo fans will buy, but your average household who used to buy two Switch Lites for that price probably won't flinch. It's just too much. They may buy whenever the Switch 2 Lite is released, but even at $300, that's a lot of money and still near the competition from PS5 and XSX.

Nintendo absolutely doesn't want comparisons to xbox or Playstation both of which have cheaper models compared to their main systems and while the mobile concept is still pretty novel for the mainstream there are definitely options now especially with the steamdeck offering a clean OS. Nintendo relies heavily on young gamers and 500$, especially in this economy, is pushing the bounds even for a planned purchase let alone impulse. Nintendo needs consoles to sell exclusives. Even if the leak is right it's still a big mistake for sales past the first year

no, nintendo is def not doing cross gen, like no way switch 2 games are gonna be running on switch 1, its just bad buisness and the new specs would not work on regular switch also. you have to releases that ps5/xbox, are really big consoles, there is a resans why its expesnives cuases it is packaged into a small design. this economy is def bad. price will only matte on release, after couple of games that are hyped, kids are def gonna beg for switch2.
