In summary of this entire listing:b]
Stop acting like immature children. To those who responded like reasonable people: my thanks.

1)LFD2 has not been released yet & some details might not have been released. patience.
2)If they promised content then they should deliver content. Sure, you might not get the entire "package" you were hoping for.. but I am sure you will get something.
3)$50 for a game is not much if you arent an addict. How many complaining about the costs buy more than 2-3 games a month? I've bought bad games before, it happens. Live and learn.
4)Downrating a comment because it doesnt agree with your primitive logic is a pretty cheap move. they should show who rated +/- for record.
5)A companies main goal is to make money. Customer satisfaction a means to that end. If they promised something, they will most likey follow up on it. If they do not, it just hurts their image.
6)The reason they are banning/warning people on their forums is this:
the 20,000 odd individuals are acting like children. Yes some statements they have are valid, however it is a little too early to say. In any case, ranting and raving is a pretty sad way to make waves. Valve does care about the 20,000 dissenters, and most likely wishes them to remain happy. however, if it needs to burry 20,000 in the mud while it sells 5,000,000 copies to other people, then so be it.

[citation][nom]demonhorde665[/nom]this is aobut valve giving consuemrs a swequel with cotnent that SHOULD have been an (a pay for) expansion at least.

...

Valve usually has agood past on this topic but now they are seeming more and more like other companies.[/citation]

Firstly, who the hell are you to decide what is and isn't worthy to be called a full sequel. Especially when the new content hasn't even been released yet! So you've seen some initial info with very few details as to exactly what all the new game will be adding and you've already decided that there's no way it's worthy to be called (and charged as) a full sequel?!? How the hell does that make any logical sense?

Secondly, after the very first time Valve releases a quick sequel to one of their games all of a sudden they don't give a crap about their customers? When the hell did a single event become proof of a pattern?!? If this becomes standard practice for Valve, it'll be a sad day for everyone and I'll be right there next to you mourning the loss. But until that day all this angst is just childish bitching and moaning.

[citation][nom]michaelahess[/nom]This "game" was a joke, I played through all the levels in about 2 hours and tried multiplayer for a couple more a couple months back when they had the free weekend. [/citation]
I have to say - I'm pretty much a new owner to the game to - bought it because of friends and for playin at their LAN parties also - the game is fun but does really lack in a variety of weapons (I can only surmise this is to try to get players to strategise) - I admit I do find the game more fun than I expected and think a 2nd part is rather quick to release

to the actual point of quoting the above person though, ummm b#!!s#!t? 2 hours? lol yeah right. IF you did actually manage that though then no wonder you didn't enjoy it. I have severe doubts this could be done in single player, though I have never tried it on easy so I don't know how easy easy is. If you did it in multiplayer try going back and taking time to "play" the game and maybe read some of the achievements and try to aim for some of those to.

Valve say the spray painting on the wall, it said KA-CHING! I'm just glad i was never a valve fanboy to begin with. I like challenging games.

[citation][nom]Wanker79[/nom]Valve is on a VERY short list of developers that have earned and deserve some benefit of the doubt. The fact that 21,000 childish idiots would rage because they perceive that Valve isn't living up to a ridiculously high standard that almost no other developer could come close to measuring up to doesn't really surprise me. It disgusts me.If they would have released this as a $20-$30 expansion, that would have been awesome. If they put together some kind of discounted price for owners of the original, great! If they just release it as a full price stand-alone title, I might be a bit disappointed. But being pissed off because you're not getting something for free is absurd. The self-entitlement in that sentiment makes me nauseous.[/citation]

I don't think your getting it. First off there is nothing childish about catching a company pulling a fast one and market off an "expansion" as a full fledged and priced game and not feeling some sense of dissapointment(especially one year after the original release!)

Also this is NOT A 2. There are no radical or significant differences from the original that offset this game as a 2. For you to better understand, note the differences between Diablo and Diablo 2. Half Lief and Half Life 2, Age of Empires and Age of Empires 2. And these aren't cherry picked games, theres many games when you go from 1 to 2 and the differences make it worthy of being a 2. Simply put, Left4Dead 2 is not worthy or deserving of the "2". From the looks of it however it looks like a nice $20 expansion at best.

L4D 2 could be treated as a sequal. Maybe it won't come out for $50, and if it does, you know the sales steam has every weekend. It will go down to exapansion price the weekend after it's released. So all you people that are complaining about getting more content, pay a little money. It's Valve and when have they released something that's not quality? Stop your bitching.

Face it, this is the new trend of the digital distribution world. Buying stuff (unlocking) that is already on the disc? Honestly I agree with all the "boycotters" in that we thought Valve wouldn't succumb to this trend of EA's yearly "Madden-like" improvement for a full price game. Or even announcing DLC before the game is released. And the publisher/developer do it for a reason - IT WORKS, people buy it. I'd be really surprised if the majority of these guys can hold back from buying the game when it is released. And if they can, more power to them. Now let's boycott other "deserving" developers for infesting games with DRM that can don't really fight piracy but mess up Window's registry.

In my eyes, and probably many others, these two games should've been Left 4 Dead: Eposide 1 and Eposide 2.

L4D is a great game, my only problem with it was that it was so short and after finishing all survival modes and campaigns many times over, it gets kind of repetitive and boring.

I'm all for more free content on L4D, and I do see L4D2 as a way to sell us something that was promised. But so far, we haven't seen anything from L4D2. Before shunning it, I would like to see what it brings to the dance floor.

Lately I've been playing a game called Killing Floor, it is very similar to L4D but has tons of custom maps, and has character progression. Until something new brings me back to L4D, that's what I will be playing.

Now, if L4D2 combines the fast paced action from L4D, the source engine, and adds some of the feature of Killing Floor and some of its feel (You just have to love the Beretta in KF), then I think we will have one great game. But count me out if its just plain old L4D with new maps, because that should be a content update...

As a potential L4D customer I have to confirm the fear of a split community. I actually ignored this game for quite some time, having never really seen it in motion. It wasnt until I saw some youtube clips of some people playing a mission that I thought "wow this looks really fun!". Upon reading this news article about the sequel coming out in mere months I am now torn between buying L4D or just waiting for the sequel. I will not buy both. Nor would I even play both unless the mechanics are so fundamentally unique that they feel like 2 different games.
