Lenovo g50 display issues

I turn on my laptop and my screen comes on but us greyed out in some areas and has a white area with lines and seems to flicker. I cannot see anything beyond that and it does not go away. Any idea what is wrong? I need my laptop for school. Thanks.

It sounds like the display is going to need to be replaced.
