RAM Upgrade Bootup Slow

I bought a new Lenovo IdeaPad Y700 14-ISK Laptop 2 days ago.

Configuration:
Intel Core i7 6700HQ CPU @ 2.60GHz, 2601 MHz, 4 Cores, 8 Logical Processors
Samsung 8GB RAM DD4-2133 (1066 Mhz) (Serial # M471A1G43DB0-CPB)
1TB HDD
2GB AMD Radeon R9 M375
Windows 10 64-bit OS


I bought a Crucial 8GB 260-Pin SODIMM DDR4 (PC4-17000) Memory Module, CL=15, Unbuffered, 2133 MT/S Speed, Non-ECC, 1.2V, x8 Based, 1024Meg x 64, Dual Ranked

I added this RAM to Slot 2.

Now it shows up Total RAM as 16GB.
The bootup time is unusually 15 seconds slower than original. Is my RAM upgrade correct?

Is there any other information I need to provide? Does my RAM's match?

Hi,

When it comes with upgrading the RAM, you'll always need to consider the speed should be the same. Have you tried testing each RAM sticks and see if you'll notice a difference when it comes with the boot up speed.

It seems like that the Crucial ram speed you got is 2133 MHz, I would suggest just getting 2 RAM stick identical to each other.

Hey, The ram that you bought is exactly the one That you need, it is dual ranked (optimized to function in harmony with another RAM) however, you may consider these 2 options :
-Buy another 8GB Ram to lower the risk of compatibility issues, and remove your old ram (Samsung Ram)
-Buy a 4GB DDR4-2133 SODIMM Ram instead of 8GB, assuming that your max supported ram is 16GB, so you may wanna go lower than what your motherboard can support (Maximum of 16GB ram) you may do just fine with 12GB..
You can also test your RAM Using this program : http/www.memtest.org/download/5.01/memtest86+-5.01.usb.installer.zip
Just extract the archive to USB key, restart your computer and make sure you boot from the USB KEY, the program is easy to use

I have a 700-14inch. I added two x 8 ram from G-skill and threw out the old 1 x 8. I chose the most modern GDDR4 ram.

G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 16GB (2 x 8G) 260-Pin DDR4 SO-DIMM DDR4 2133 (PC4 17000) Laptop Memory Model F4-2133C15D-16GRS

They work perfectly.

Yep, You're all Set, Choosing 2 same Ram Types and categories is the most logical solution to your issue, throwing the old Samsung 8GB Ram is the way to go.
