Well this is my first time to ever post on here. I am not really into computers but I know a little about them so I need some help. I had an LH laptop for about 5 years now, 4gb ram, 512nvidia card and dual core processor and it gave out recently so I decided to look for a new laptop. I use laptop usually for college for presentations, documents, downloading research papers, stuff that isn't really that heavy but I do use it a lot and pretty much all day. Apart from college work I use it to watch movies or youtube and also play games but I don't tend to play the higg end games as I have consoles for that lol I usually just play stuff like crusader kings 2, europa universalis 4 and I already have the sims 4 but can't play it due to not having a laptop. Anyway I am not looking for ultra awesome graphics, but good enough to make the game look good and a processor speed that helps as well and runs smoothly.

I am sorry for the major introduction but had to let you know what I was looking for. So I went to the market and this one laptop caught my attention (lenovo ideapad z50) and its specs are as follow.
CPU: Intel i7-4510U 2.0G
RAM: 8GB
SSHD: 1TB + 8GB SSD
DISPLAY: 15.6 FHD LED
GRAPHICS: Intel HD graphics 4000 and 4GB Nvidia gforce 840M
OS: Windows 8.1

I know that this i7 is a dual core, I was hoping I'd get a quad core laptop but I am not even sure if that's necessary. The laptop seems really good for what I want and I am a bit hesitant and so I was hoping I would get some expert advice.

Sorry for the long post and hope to get an answer soon :)

Solution
Dual-core should be fine with your games, plus i7 processors hyperthread. Though the U processors are lower frequency I think it'll suit your gaming needs fine.
