Lenovo laptop with broken screen

Hi everyone! I dropped my laptop today and it has some pretty serious cracks both on the screen and on the back of the keyboard. The screen is completely broken and would only show light when turned on. I plugged it to the TV using and hdmi cable and it works just fine (the laptop automatically switches to the external display when it detects one). I left it on for a while and it just stopped showing on the TV by itself while the laptop screen is still showing lights. I tried unplugging it and plugging it back in also restarting the laptop, neither works. Would someone be able to tell me what else I should try please? Thank you so so much!

Hi,

What I suggested to others who had this problem was to unplug the ribbon cable that connects the LCD to the motherboard and the external monitor should work as the default GPU. You'll be able to see everything on the external monitor even in BIOS.

Might try the above and would try and get all your data off the harddrives, with something like this and that hard a hit, might see or start seeing other problems also

It might be irrelevant, but have you tried to manually switch monitors?
