Lenovo U530 for gaming

can the Lenovo U530 be used to game at around medium settings? Ex. Skyrim and guild wars 2

If not I bought http/www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834313740 a while ago. some product reviewer made a video and an article on it claiming it to be the best gaming laptop for under $1000 usd which now that I have used it for about a month I believe it. plays bf4 on ultra as well as skyrim on ultra with a few mods. I don't own guild wars 2 but I am sure it can run it at over 60 fps

I looked into this and my only concern is the battery life could you confirm to me what it is? I am a student so I'm looking for a computer that has a good battery life for when I'm typing papers and such

For me it lasts about 5-8 hours if I'm just typing papers, gaming or hd videos about 3-4 hours unplugged

A Y510p would be huge overkill for Skyrim and GW2. The U530 would be perfectly fine for those games and would perform well, be light, slim and get significantly better battery life. Not to mention the heat that is generated from having the dual video cards.

Don't get me wrong, performance is nice, but there is no reason to go overkill.

That doesn't sound right either about the battery life. I've seen idling Y510p's die in 2-3 hours. 5-8 hours is high for 75% of laptops and the Y510p is the worst of the worst for battery life.

I can't see that as it is a shopping cart list and that is individual to you. However, I see that you are looking at HP's which I would truly warn against.

If you want a laptop with great battery life, low weight, and decent graphics, just get the Acer Aspire V7. It comes with:

I would suggest to you that you get the Acer Aspire V7 14" version.

It's the same everything as the one I linked above, but the smaller display draws less power and allows for up to 8 hours of battery life, and it only weighs 4.4lbs making it incredibly portable.

reviews say it only has 4 hours of battery when not gaming and such so i think right now with all the choices the U530 is still the best for me unless you have any other suggestions

if they got 4 hours of battery life on the V7, they have the brightness cranked up and no power management settings enabled. Whoever says that clearly doesn't know how to handle a laptop, haha.

Even the 15.6" version with stock settings gets over 5 hours on notebookcheck's reviews.

haha alright i understand now if my budget was bumped up to 1200 what do you think is the best option?
