Hi, I'm new to this forum and new to the whole laptop scene. I have a lot of experience with desktops but haven't really bothered with laptops as I feel they are inferior.

Recently however, I have bought a Lenovo Y530 off Ebay for £130. At that price I thought it was practically a steal!! SPECS:

Intel Core 2 Duo P7450 2.13 GHz <<<Tried OC to 2.4GHz but sometimes crashes under load
2GB DDR2 RAM 667MHz <<< BIOS reports that it is DDR3 :S
Nvidia 9600m GS 512MB <<< OC from 430/400/1075 to 600/480/1550
15.4" LED Display
3 x USB 2.0
firewire
Ethernet
56k Modem <<<WHY?? :S
HDMI
54 express card
TV Tuner

I do plan on doing a bit of gaming as I know the GPU has sufficient power. My first question is: Are there any optimisations that can be done to make gaming as smooth as possible???? I've tried Overclocking the CPU but its a bit hit and miss :/ The GPU overclocks nicely ad provide 10-20% increase in the performance test benchmark.

I've installed windows 8 pro which runs smooth but not without its problems. The brightness control doesn't seem to work and I think it may be a driver issue. "Lenovo ACPI Virtual Power Controller as an exclamation mark next to it :/ Should I install windows 7 instead??

The last thing that's been on my mind is the TV tuner. The port seems too small to fit a standard cox cable so how am I meant to use it?? :s

Any advice or help is welcome. I've already tried looking for reviews and help through google but all I could find was one or two reviews with completely different specs :S

Thanks
