I have spent weeks looking at a new TV to watch movies in my bedroom and I thought I had my heart set on the Vizio P55-C1 or the 50 inch variant, that was until I found the LG EG9100 for about the same price I have found myself in a dilemma.

Do I stay with 4k and get HDR or go with 1080p and have OLED, 3D as well as a curved display?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

4k still has a ways to go before it's ready for prime time. AFAIK there are no 4k movies available on disk. gaming is just now getting there in the PC world. The consoles are still about 3 to 4 years away from doing a decent job at it. (xb scorpio and ps neo will very likely suck at 4k)

But for a bedroom TV that is going to be used for just watching cable or playing consoles I would prolly get a much cheaper yet decent 1080p TV. Something you wouldn't mind replacing in 2 years when they get all this new stuff ironed out.

edit: apparently 4k Blu-ray disk are starting to come out.

Between the 2, my choice would be for the LG. I would favor the color vs. the resolution. From over 7 ft away 4k would be wasted at that size.

The OLED will produce a better picture. If you can get a flat rather than curved model I would suggest that. Probably cheaper and the curved screen serves no purpose.
4K requires more processing especially to upscale HD to 4K and it often produced really annoying artifacts in all but the most expensive 4K models. HDR is really a benefit to the picture but again not much to actually watch.

I am not sure if there is a non curved variant of it but would 4k even be worth it at this size? I mean I don't know the exact distance from it but I'd be about 8 Ft from it so would there be any point for 4k when I can get a much nicer looking OLED tv ?
