LG FM37 multimedia player

I have one of these rather rare birds and wonder if anyone has any experience of using one.

Is there's any way round the apparent lack of support for folders (I hate tagging)?

And how do you load ordinary AVI footage -- the manual suggests that you need the LG Media Centre software to convert them.

So far haven't found a full version of the Media Centre (only upgrade fixes in English). Would that help with the folders issue anyway -- all reviews suggest it s*cks.

The player incidentally sounds great, seems reliable, and has cool touch screen (fiddly for big fingers) photos and footage look quite good. It's not as cool as an Ipod Touch (but no control-freak iTunes nonsense either) and I'd have preferred a Sony -- but the price was irresistible.

I have one and i must say the LG Media Centre software is complete and total rubbish. It either hangs my PC else fails to function every time i try and convert a video or MP4 file.

I too would greatly appreciate it if someone out there could tell me where I can get access to a working version/update of the software from LG as my repeated attempts by phone and email to LG have proved useless to date.

Alternatively - a method to convert video files so that they work on the FM37 as a standard AVI file conversion doesn't work.

Finally, a fellow LG sufferer. I suspect that the AVI compatibility issue comes down to the dimensions/resolution of the screen in pixels and a decent AV converter program might do the trick.

I have to say that LG in the UK have responded to enquiries about other products but only the Korean home site seems to show any "ownership" of the FM37.

Perhaps not surprising, given its lack of success compared to, even, Samsung's MP3 range (which could have been foreseen given the FM37's high launch price and low capacity).

I suspect LG has resorted to flogging off remaining stocks cheap as incentive/promotion products -- mine was a special edition issued in a goody bag to journalists by the Dubai Int Financial Centre and containing dramatic (not) footage of their cityscape.

Frankly, the screen size doesn't get me itching to watch movies on it, so lack of AV really isn't a big deal.

It's okay as an MP3 player, apart from the annoying lack of folder support.
