my lg smart tv model number 421F5800UA the remote only turn on the tv wont do anything else, replaced the batteries and even purchased a new remote and same problem. can someone please help me

my problem feels the same BUT actually the working distance is very short, maybe just 1m, and increasing gradually up to 2m.
There must be some kind of sensitivity issue in my TV set!

.... one more comment to my answer a few minutes ago

the remote control turns the TV set ON normally, but then the working distance immediately decreases to about 1m.
Could be a firmware issue as well?
