I'd like to buy a notebook with:
- weight < 2kg, size 12-14"
- at least 5h actual battery life
- at least 1600x900 screen resolution

So far I'm considering Asus UX31E and Samsung 700Z3A. Newer Vaios are too expensive, and Airs are Apple (no hate, I just don't like them :D )
Best for me would be Toshiba Z830 (many ports, nice design, low weight), but it has only 1366x768 screen (why do they even make these? A 15-year-old PC with CRT monitor can handle more...)

What other models would you suggest that match my expectations? It can be also something coming out in about a month. The maximum price is more or less the Zenbook I mentioned.

The Lenovo X230 series only have 1366x768 resolution screens.

There's the upcoming 14" Lenovo X1 - Carbon that will have a 1600x900 resolution screen, but it is not expected to be released until the end of summer. It's expected to weigh in at less than 3lbs so definitely lighter than 2kg. However, the release date is "sometime this summer" which could be as late as August. Expected price would definitely be over $1,000.

It looks really interesting, but it will likely come with a SSD. I prefer a standard hard drive of at least 320GB.

But Lenovo x230 has 1366x768 display...

[EDIT] I see jaguarskx already pointed that out while I was posting my reply :)
