Like your comment on dell or HP for gaming

Hello,
I would like to know which would be better, more reliable, for gmaing and entertainment a HP Pavillion dv7t quad with 1 GB radeon hd6770 graphics and 750(7200) hd for $1084 or a Dell XPS 17 with Nvidia gt555 3Gb graphics and 1 TB (2x500(7200rpm)) HD for $1200? Both have same I7-2630, 1080i display etc. or if you could suggest another laptop in that price range, I worry about heat and reliability because I travel alot thank you

You're really talking about gaming. 'Cause everything else you do - you can do very well on a 14" $800 laptop.

You can actually get better deals ATM - both of those under $1000

Are you sure you want to travel a lot with a 17" laptop?
You can configure the 15" XPS 15" and dv6 to identical performance configurations.

thank you WR2 for the input:

This is my very first laptop, and wasn't sure about how big to go as I will be using it for my entertainment in an isolated area, I do construction, so blu ray was important (and thought a big screen would be better) and also the concern for reliability.

I have not really thought about a 15 inch sreen before your post but I think you are correct as the size seems cumbersome.

So could you please give your opinion of either 15 inch or is it a toss up?

You have the same amount of pixels on the screen which means equal amount of work space (or gaming action) on screen.
The only knock on 1920x1080 on 15" is that the text can get too small for some.
But you can adjust text size and change the resolution downward if you ever need help in that area.
