Locked out by vista

i installed a copy of vista from a friend on my laptop and now have been locked out from my own laptop because it says that is a unauthorized copy of vista. can someone PLEASE HELP me resolve this. I do not want vista at all. I just want to put my xp back.

Or, you could just purchase a Win7 upgrade (it's inexpensive).
But WinXP is still great - I still use it on some machines here.

yes i have the cd. but when i insert the cd nothing happens

Go into the BIOS screens (see manual for how or press random keys as the computer starts from power up and see the error message this generates).

Go to Boot Order (or Drive listing) and select Boot first from CD drive.
