the series im looking to get is asus rog now im not sure which one to get.I current desktop system is in my signature so it doesn't need to be super beefy. What im trying to figure out is how close is 970m to 965m. The one im looking at on amazon is about $1200 with no ssd has 17 inch screen with rog logo with 965m. The other is about 1800 with 970m ssd and gsync screen.I think there is another one without a gsync screen for about 1500

What im trying to get is to be able to run bf4 at 60 fps at like medium settings 64 player servers 1080p I might even be able to live with low settings because at 1080 still looks very good and im trying to see if the 965m will suit my needs for that low price point or 970m will be that sweet spot please help
also I would be open to other brands if you feel is a better product must have 17 inch screen thanks

Look up benchmarks for BF4 for the video chip, you will see how it runs on it. The recommended desktop card for BF4 is a GTX 660, the 965m is a bit slower than that, the 970m is around the same speed or even a bit faster.

I'd look for a 970m card in a laptop if you want to run at 60fps at 1080.

A brand I like is Asus, specifically G751 models. They are great for the price. The one draw back is that the display isn't 4k, but this isn't a deal breaker as the mobile gpus aren't great at gaming at 4k.
