1. What is your budget?
1.5k to 2k (negotiable)

2. What is the size of the notebook that you are considering?
15 or 17

3. What screen resolution do you want?
1080p or better

4. Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop?
Yes.

5. How much battery life do you need?
3 hours or more would be grand. Love to have 6. Willing to sacrifice here.

6. Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High)?
If it's a game I play it...or would like to...on as high a setting as possible. Bioshock is my latest passion.

7. What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo/Video editing, Etc.)
This is where it gets tricky. I'm also a designer who lives in CS6, a grad student, and a researcher who does really high end statistical modeling...a gaming laptop seems to handle these diverse needs and more.

8. How much storage (Hard Drive capacity) do you need?
500gb+

9. If you are considering specific sites to buy from, please post their links.
Looked at a lot, overwhelmed.

10. How long do you want to keep your laptop?
2 years is about all they ever last for me. Longer is great, but I get itchy and buy new ones.

11. What kind of Optical drive do you need? DVD ROM/Writer,Bluray ROM/Writer,Etc ?
DVD RW is enough. BR would be good to at the right price.

12. Please tell us about the brands that you prefer to buy from them and the brands that you don't like and explain the reasons.
I've used and owned a lot. I currently have an ASUS ROG 74SX which is good, but a bit stripped down (I bought it at Bestbuy...sigh)...and the lemmon of the lot, it's never worked right. But I LIKE it, and would buy another...better version except they all come with Windows 8 and NO TOUCHSCREEN. This seems to be a sticking point for me mentally...shouldn't I get a touchscreen if I'm getting Windows 8? Will gleefully consider another brand...but not against any.

13. What country do you live in?
USA

14. Please tell us any additional information if needed.
The ASUS ROG I have is HUGE...and I like it, but it makes moving around school/home/work a real pain and that's the main reason I'm considering something lighter. But I want to play at a high level too. 16GB RAM is essential...and I'm digging SSD...but I keep hanging up about no touch screens on a good gaming machine (or at least I haven't found one).

Ok, enough of my babbling. Anyone have any thoughts?

THANK YOU!

I agree that either of these laptops would be perfect for you, based on what information you've supplied. I recommend the G75 because although the graphics are less powerful, they'll still supply good frame rates for years to come while it also has superior cooling. The ASUS also has a better battery, if I'm not mistaken.

Thanks for the link! However, I definitely want the Haswell...should have put that above, sorry. But I appreciate the effort of finding this. I wish ASUS would update the 15", it might be just what I need.
