Looking for a laptop

Alright so lettme get started by saying this is just a casual use laptop. I'm not sure really on what i want like a namebrand. I was looking at macs but i personally think that the money to performance that im getting out of it, is a waste of money. I don't want to buy a referbished or used laptop either im just looking for one that i can use to do homework, play a few games and just browse the internet, watch some videos, and what not.

i don't really have a price range but i don't think it should cost me over 700 dollars, but if you find a laptop that is under a grand, then that's fine.

requirements:
- 8g of ram* or 16
- DESIGN*** THIS IS ONE OF THE BIGGEST FACTORS
- performance - cost
- no chromebooks

all im asking for is an array of different laptops that i can choose for i don't know how to shop for a laptop as i already have my own gaming rig i just buit.

Is battery life important?
yes
What about weight and portability?
light enough
Do you have a display size or resolution requirements?

i was hoping for 1400 900 but ill take anything above 1368x768
