Looking for a thin performance laptop with Intel Quad Core Procesor

I'm looking for a thin performance laptop below $1000. I use it mostly for photo editing, running multiple VM's etc.

Mac Book pro or a HP ENVY Touchsmart?
Personally I'm not a fan of apple and i've heard and read reviews that the HP is the second best (below the apple mac) for the best performing laptop for video editing for 2015.
