Looking for advice

Why won't my jiake m8 phone not come back on? I've just got this phone today for my birthday and its cut its self of when it had a full battery of life and now it won't come back on. I've only been on it for half an hour at the max and it doesn't seem to have any life in it at all. There's no battery sign there to show its charging! Can anyone help please??
