I'm looking to buy a gaming laptop that will double for school. I want at least a 1060, but would prefer a 1070 gpu. I also would prefer an i7, 6700hq or 7700hq, as the performance is so close between the two generations. I think all gaming laptops with this configuration come with a 120-250 gb ssd and a 1tb hdd and 16 gb of ram. I'd also prefer a 15.6 inch 120hz display, but I have no preference for ips or tn. I know it seems like I know what I want, but I haven't been in the market for a laptop for a long time. Do these laptops run quickly, that is, similar to a desktop with similar specs? I ask this because every laptop I've owned in the past has been sluggishly slow outside of basic tasks. Are higher end laptops better nowadays, and do they last 3-5 years if taken care of? I also want to go with a reputable brand and a model with good build quality, so any recommendations would be appreciated. I've looked at several along with reviews but can't make heads or tails of them. My budget is about 16-1700$ US.
