Looking for help on a new laptop!

I need to get a new laptop and am looking for ideas on some new ones. I am looking at spending at most $1200. I might be doing some light gaming on it. It is mostly going to be used for school work. So things like power point, Microsoft word and video watching and of course everyday use like internet browsing. I do NOT want to go with anything Dell related at all. I have had really bad luck with them in the past.

No but i did own a Asus 960m version of it for 30 days when my pc was in storage. really liked the asus line laptops was quick ran most of my games also didnt run to hot
