Can I hook the Amazon Amazon Fire stick on the back of my stereo to get it to have surround sound stereo then going into the HMDI port on the TV

Can I hook my Amazon Fire stick to the back of my stereo instead of the HMDI port on the TV or does it have to be hooked into the TV

If your "stereo" has HDMI inputs then it's a home theater system and you should be able to plug the Firestick into it.
If it doesn't have HDMI inputs then you would get the audio from the TV. If the TV didn't have audio outputs then an HDMI input selector with audio extraction would provide an audio out for any HDMI sources connected to it as well as the Firestick.
