Hi. I am looking for a laptop for school. The specs that are most important to me are as follows:

  • ■ 8 GB RAM
    ■ 256 GB SSD with no other drive
    ■ i5 or better
    ■ not particularly heavy

Thanks for the help!

Mike

As you didn't mention any budget I thought you wanted the best out there.

Here is one I found (http://www.xoticpc.com/force-msi-1492-31003-760m-msi-ge40-barebones-p-5824.html?wconfigure=yes). Its 4.4lbs , i7 4700MQ, 8GB RAM and you can remove the default hard disk and add a SSD (Although I'd suggest you to keep both of them cause its just 25 bucks). This config will set you back by about 1360$. Also did I mention it has a 2GB GTX 760M.
Here is a laptop that is light (3.75 lbs) and meets your specs.(http://www.xoticpc.com/lenovo-thinkpad-helix-convertible-36984uu-p-6016.html?wconfigure=yes). If you want a bigger screen (http://www.xoticpc.com/lenovo-thinkpad-carbon-3444cxu-p-5989.html?wconfigure=yes). You can configure this to have a 256GB SSD and 8GB RAM (And weighs 3.4lbs).

Thank you for the response. However, I don't think that the specs I'm looking for should really put me back $2500. The Macbook Air has the specs I'm looking for at $1400, but I'm personally trying to avoid buying Apple.

sure you can.

$1299 + $100 for 8GB RAM = $1399.

has an i5, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB SSD, and is very light. and isn't $2500. can it be beaten with a windows machine?
