Hey guys, my girlfriend is looking for a laptop to use mostly for school work, but also playing a few games such as Sims 4 and Minecraft. She may also occasionally try out other games around that graphic level or slightly more advanced as well. Doesn't need to run high end games on max settings, but like maybe running smooth on medium ish settings would be cool. Any recommendations in the 600$ range?

Something with a decent amount of storage space is preferred and anything that comes with Microsoft Office would also be a plus.

It is the least expensive laptop with a dedicated GPU that I am aware of. Anything below that and you are basically looking at integrated graphics... unless there is a sale that I am unaware of.

Intel Core i5 5200U (2.20GHz)
8GB Memory, 750GB HDD
NVIDIA GeForce 940M
1920 x 1080
Windows 8.1 64-Bit
DL DVD+-RW/CD-RW

solve the overall storage issue later with an external or upgrade the hdd later. Most inclusions of office will be a trial period vs a full release.

advise looking at asus, lenovo, samsung from personal experience.

May want to try over at reddit: www.reddit.com/r/suggestalaptop i believe, they keep updated suggestions per price range, and you can pose this question over there as well.

Thanks, I just made a post over on the subreddit about it. I also found this. You guys think that would be a good fit?

I've honestly had mixed experiences with acer, but that was last experienced around 2011... very all over the place QC... would suggest looking for as many reviews of the model as possible.

My suggestion is to look for a lenovo as they are reliable and great for general schoolwork. They are also very robust and have a good keyboard.
