I'm looking to buy a new laptop. I'm having trouble finding a decent one in my price range that includes touch. Here's what I'm looking for

Windows 8
Touch screen
At least 15 inch screen
Solid state drive at least for operating system
Decent video card for gaming.

My budget is $1200 or less. If possible I would like to try to keep under 1000. I've seen some I like, but none have touch screens.

Thanks for the help!

I'd go with the Samsung. The stronger GPU and CPU (More of the former) will make a good difference. That and Gigabyte isn't known for making laptops. If this helped you make your final choice, please choose Best Answer.

EDIT: Forgot about the SSD. The only way you can get it would be to buy either one of these:

And to add it yourself.

Dude, if you looked at the Samsung, you'd see that the GPU is quite good. It's the equivalent to the GTX 650m.

You could try swapping out the ODD for that, but I wouldn't recommend it. Have you considered something like the Seagate Momentus XT/ Hybrid hdd line? It has about 24GB for the most frequently used stuff (The OS) and a lot of storage for everything else.

Are there any laptops with similar specs to the ativ book 8, including the touch, but that have an ssd for is and a hdd. I really would like one that comes with it installed. If not, I may just have to forgo a ssd, as nice as one would be, but I guess I can always settle for the hybrid drive. Let me know if anyone has other recommendations.

Probably not. The dual-drive option is usually in professional or high gaming laptops. Most manufacturers assume that people using a touch screen aren't doing either.

I think I may get the
HP ENVY TouchSmart 15t-j000 Quad Edition

I customized it with the following.

• Windows 8 64
• 4th generation Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4700MQ Processor
• NVIDIA GeForce GT 740M Graphics with 2048MB of dedicated video memory
• 15.6-inch diagonal Full HD BrightView LED-backlit Display (1920x1080)
• 8GB DDR3 System Memory (2 Dimm)
• 1TB 5400RPM Hybrid Hard Drive
• 24GB mSSD Hard Drive Acceleration Cache
• 6-Cell Lithium-Ion Battery
• No Internal DVD or CD Drive
• Backlit Keyboard
• HP TrueVision HD Webcam w/ integrated digital mic
• 802.11b/g/n WLAN and Bluetooth(R)

It will cost me just under $1000, opinions?

Also how good is the 740M compared to a Radeon HD 6850 I have in my desktop.
