Hello guys. Time for a new laptop but really hard to make a choice. My thoughts are written below and your advices are needed.

Is any laptop have both i5 and 965m, except AW? I know AW does but that's over my budget.
Hp omen had that combo but I couldn't find one now.

I have limited resources on laptop searching. Any help would be appreciated!

Yes. That's sad. 965m has almost same heat dissipation to 960m but 30% better performance. Temperature is why I want to i5 instead of i7. And it's less expensive as well.

Temps on the CPU does not really matter, it depends on the CPU and laptop you are getting. A high clocked quad core i7 will of course be using up more heat than a low voltage i5, but the quad core i5 vs a quad core i7 are identical, both Core i7 6700HQ and the i5 6300HQ are 45 watt parts.

I'd go with a 970M with an i5 quad core if you can find it vs a 965m with an i5 or i7 for games. Or even the 1060 which is about 1200-1300 now.

Em. That's a good idea! Any recommendation of i5 quad with 970m?

Does not look like they make systems with the 970M card and i5 CPUs, everything on Newegg with it is an i7. And for the prices, it's better to go with a 1060 system. The 970M are about $1,000 for refurb or open box even, newer 1060 are $1,200 http://www.xoticpc.com/sager-np8151-clevo-p650rp6.html

There is a performance gap between the 960M and the 1060M latops, past the 960M the cost gets too close to the 1060M laptops to be worth it, unless there is a bit issue with spending another 2-300.

Would a i5 6300HQ bottleneck a 970m in both post production and gaming scenarios?
