So i have this old jvc mx-s4 compact stereo system, which i am going to replace.

The problem is, that i find it hard to find a compact system, that sounds at least as good as mine.

This system is NOT cheap, i gave around 900-1000$ when i bought it.

I was thinking about only changing the speakers, since the amplifier is very good. However, i just dont know if i will be capable of connecting modern compact speakers to it.

So is it possible to connect some new speakers to my old amplifier?

Or should i just get an entire new system?

If you had one that would accept the speaker outputs, then you could. There are some subwoofers that will accept speaker level outputs as input. Most won't. Otherwise I don't see an easy way.
So i can buy almost any compact 8ohm speaker, and it will be able to connect?

I am not actually sure if the output of my amp will match the input of the speakers, should i worry about that?

Any 8 ohm speaker should work. There is nothing special about that system that would prevent any brand of speaker from working that I can see from specs and pictures.

The pictures I looked at for that model had speaker terminals on the right hand side above the power cord. Does your unit not have red/black speaker terminals?
