So i have been looking at the samsung series 9 generations of laptops.
There is a new one that is coming out in august 18 for pre-order. (Samsung ativ book 9 plus). It is priced at $1400.
Now i see a samsung series 9 from a generation ago that is priced at $965. It is a 15"(which i like better than 13.3") and has more ram. The resolution is much lower than the "plus". And it does not have a haswell processor. It is not part of the ativ line up so it does not have sidesync as well. The older one does not have touchscreen which could conflict with windows 8. Do i go for the new one or the older cheaper one?

If you are not going to work on heavy graphics like designing 3D, etc then 8GB RAM is pretty overkill. I have 4 GB RAM running win 8 on it, when i play ass creed it only use around 60-70% of my RAM.

Yes, resolution is another story. But the price has a huge gap, its around 50%! :D

What do you mean by "conflict"? Windows 8 runs fine on non-touchscreen laptops :D

Haswell's performance only have a little bit gap than ivy's and RAM can be added easily later. For what purpose is your laptop?

aim just getting a thin, light portable laptop for college. Will be using it for light gaming. Lol or starcraft 2. Not graphics intensive games when on low settings. the older one has 8gb of ram, which is more. The new one has a 3200 x 1800 resolution screen though. Very attractive.
