It is sad that someone with this amount of talent would use it in illegitimate ways. I'm sure he could have gotten a very well paying job somewhere of his choice.

lets not forget, a cop just killed 2 teenage girls while texting on the road, going 122mph and he got 2 years suspension, WITH PAY and 3 years of probation.

Gotta love the "justice" system

[citation][nom]nforce4max[/nom]Cop kills two people while texting and goes free with two years pay while the nobody 10 years for hacking. What is the greater crime?[/citation]
But the cop paid his cellphone bill. /jokingly (don't take it serious)

yeah but if you were tell a U.S. Judge they are power hungry, assholes looking to make up for whats missing down below (which is more then apparent with the 10 years sentence) you'd get locked up for life because you spoke you view on a judge.

very good point!!!!

The guy is guilty of willful wrongdoing; not a "mistake" (error in judgment), and not a crime of passion; he knew it was wrong, and did it anyway. Stick his head in a bucket and pull the trigger, then strip his estate down to nothing.
GAME OVER.

Simple. Those girls family didnt have the resources these companies have.

The cop killed 2 people who weren't worth even a tiny % to the government compared to what Telecomunication Companies are worth. The greater crime is the one that costs more $$$ today.

Bet it cost more than 1.4 million to track him for 5 years and bring him in. Moral of the story, taxpayers get the shaft.

wow witht he money this guy made off this scam , he should get his lawyer to cite court punishments like a cop killing 2 teenage girls while texting on the road, going 122mph and he getting 2 years suspension, WITH PAY and 3 years of probation.

i sure know i would esp with a high profile case like this sure to make the news, i'd even invite the media in telling them i was going to use this, since they like to broadcast an incite controversy

Probably because money is more "valuable" than these lives for these companies. They can say that 1.4mil = lives of others LMAO.

That would be the decisions based on the laws as they are written. It's not like businesses would have much input other than being able to state how much it costed them. That's just the laws in general being lopsided.

Does someone who is caught pirating a single album really deserve a several thousand dollar fine? No, not really.

And that cop deserved way more, but got a pass just because he was a cop.

You really believe this corporations have no pull false.. Trust me they do. Now they can't really do to much about wither the people or found innocent or guilty (unless they temper with the jury or pay off his lawyer). But they do have a lot of pull with the goverment (aka judges). To make sure things turn out in their favor.

How can you side with someone that commits fraud and theft? You claim it was no major crime? If someone stole $1.4 million from a bunch of retirees life savings, you wouldn't complain that 10 years was too harsh.

Of course, it's always about money.
Al Capone was done for tax evasion, not being a brutal murdering mafia boss.
Go figure.

He probably got burned for skipping bail. Pull that, and you can expect to see the maximum penalty if you get caught.

Still, I wonder how he got extradited? Clearly he didn't make much money out of this or he could have paid the proper bribes in mexico to make sure he didn't get deported.

Maybe "Dog The Bounty Hunter" went over the border and dragged his sorry ass back
