Well I remember the mainland of the US did get hit by some Japanese Balloon Bombs which did cause a bunch of forest fires,killed a family in Oregon and knocked out a power substation at Hanford,Washington (where the plutonium was being produced).My mother worked at a Boeing subcontractor plant in 1944 building B-17's and B-29's as a riviter (yes, that's right).
There was rationing for civilians although it wasn't anywhere at all as bad as the people of Europe had to endure.
